Our Place

There are few parts in the world which leave you with a lasting sense of difference. Central Otago is New Zealand’s most inland region - the hottest, coldest and driest!  A powerful place of physical challenge and seasonal contrast that has barely changed over the centuries. The silence and the sense of space here in Central Otago NZ is overwhelming.

Karearea The Karearea

The Clutha River The Clutha River

Flowing through the heart of Central Otago NZ is the mighty Clutha River. Born in the mountains, the river passes through steep gorges, hydro schemes, past towns and eventually winds down to the sea at Balclutha. Swift, dangerous and wild, the Clutha River is the inspiration for many landscape artworks, sculptures, writing and the making of many photos here in Central Otago.
