Flat Top Hill

One of the newest areas for mountain biking in Central Otago. The trails at Flat Top Hill have been built by volunteers from the local Mountain Bike Club with permission from the Deparment of Conservation. A mix of options allow for a 10km loop that returns to Butchers Dam, or a challenging descent into the Roxburgh Gorge.

Hawksburn Road

The Hawksburn Road, known to locals as the Pylon Road is a trail that offers a mixture of mainly 4WD gravel roads, some tar seal, and some very steep climbs, but if you’re fit and love an adrenalin rush and the vast open spaces– do it: you won’t be disappointed.

Old Man Range

The Old Man Range has nothing higher between it and the South Pole. For cyclists interested in an adrenalin rush, this ride will be unforgettable and the views breathtakingly beautiful, so make sure you pack your camera.

Alexandra to Clyde 150th Anniversary Track

This easy cycle ride for the whole family takes you along the true right banks of the powerful Clutha Mata-au River between Alexandra and Clyde. Expect to see walkers, joggers out for their daily constitutional.

Alexandra to Butchers Point

Here the trail takes you through a steep rocky gorge, with no other access than the old bridle path, winds down beside what are now the upper reaches of Lake Roxburgh Gorge. This rugged, lonely landscape has an ethereal beauty that envelops you into its own world.
