Roxburgh Gorge Trail - Transport, Shuttles & Jet Boat Experience

A range of transport and shuttle services are available for cyclists riding the Roxburgh Gorge Trail in Central Otago. Pick ups, drop offs, and bag shuttles can be arranged through several local operators and bus companies.

Note all transport services must be booked in advance.

Jet Boat Experience

To experience the whole Roxburgh Gorge Trail, you will need to book a leisurely jet boat ride between Doctors Point (Alexandra end) and Shingle Creek (Roxburgh Dam end).

Doctors Point (10km) and Shingle Creek (11km) are the half way marks at either end of the trail, both ideal spots to stop and relax taking in the impressive scenery before catching the a jetboat down or up river to rejoin the trail.

This jet boat ride is approximately 45 minutes and covers 13km through some of the most stunning scenery New Zealand has to offer.

Essential information you need to know:

There are currently two jetboat operators servicing the trail - Beaumont Jet & Clutha River Cruises

BOOKINGS ARE ESSENTIAL as numbers carried on the jet boat are limited and there are five set daily departures from Doctors Point and Shingle Creek.

A minimum of 2 people required.

Due to weather and river conditions, operators reserve the right to cancel departures as your safety is paramount.

Daily departure times - There are set departure times from Doctors Point jetty and Shingle Creek jetty.

Cyclists and walkers need to be at the appropriate jetty 15 minutes before departure time.

Other group departures can be accommodated, by prior arrangement and bookings essential.
