Ride with the Locals in central otago

Cycling in Central Otago amongst dramatic landscapes with an organised or informal group of riders is the best way to experience the countryside and meet fellow cyclists. Whether it be in a racing event or out with a regular group ride, ‘weekend warriors’ to elite riders are welcome – enjoy the competitive but friendly spirit and make new friends along the way.

There are a number of organised and informal road cycling and mountain bike groups in Central Otago. For more information on when and where the groups ride, please contact each group directly. Visitors are welcome to join in.

Mountain Biking Groups & Clubs in Central Otago

Access to local trails is generally on private land and at the owners’ goodwill. Please respect all notices and closures, particularly between 1 October and 30 November each year as land access closes due to lambing. For information on where you can ride visit one of the local bike stores.

The Central Otago Wakatipu Cycle Club hold races most Sunday’s through summer at locations Central Otago and the Southern Lakes.

The roads of Central Otago provide great opportunities to get out and enjoy the sport of Road Cycling. There is relatively little traffic, good surfaces and stunning scenery. Locals are out enjoying the roads on a regular basis and you can join in too.
