LOWER SOUTH ISLAND TRADE EVENT

Enterprise Dunedin is in the process of organising a trade event in Auckland in August.  They have invited tourism operators from throughout Waitaki, Southland, Clutha, Fiordland and Central Otago to participate.  Applications are subject to availability with Dunedin operators receiving first preference.   Attending this event will provide trade-ready operators with the opportunity to showcase your tourism business to key Inbound Tour Operators and Auckland based travel agents spread across a 2-day workshop.

The format of this event involves up to 50 short, face-to-face meetings with attending travel company representatives.  Approximately 85 individual travel agents attended the 2016 event, providing a cost effective way to connect with key trade.

If you are interested in this event, please email andrea.lauder@codc.govt.nz for the prospectus.

TOURISM NEW ZEALAND GLOBAL CAMPAIGN - PEOPLE AND PLACE

Tourism New Zealand (TNZ) are working on a new brand evolution project which provides opportunities to showcase Central Otago’s people. TCO has been asked to provide a list of people who are the most welcoming in the region – those that embody the unique Kiwi spirit of Manaakitaanga best.

If you have a great example of someone who is the most welcoming of people to our region and those that willingly share their place through their eyes we would love to hear about it. Please email alison.mason@codc.govt.nz if you have any ideas or suggestions.

INTERNATIONAL MEDIA MARKETPLACE (IMM)

In late February, Ali Mason is attending the Australasian Travel Industry’s Leading Media Event. For the first time, Tourism NZ are creating a dedicated Pure New Zealand stand where Ali will meet with 25 international journalists, developing and securing new media opportunities for Central Otago.

A key factor of this event is the ability to introduce to a large audience of dedicated travel media, some great story ideas. Ali is uploading press releases to a dedicated media platform, so if you have recently launched something new and exciting please email alison.mason@codc.govt.nz a draft press release and a selection of great images to review and upload!

TNZ AUSTRALIAN TRADE WORKSHOP

At the end of February Andrea Lauder will attend Tourism NZ’s RTO Workshop in Australia. This is an annual event co-ordinated by TNZ providing TCO the opportunity to educate trade on Central Otago visitor experiences, plus establish connections with key Australian travel sellers on behalf of trade-ready operators.  Andrea will meet with 30 wholesalers at this workshop.
