Lower South Marketing Alliance

The inaugural Lower South marketing alliance campaign has successfully been activated with RTO’s and airports from Waitaki South confirmed as partners. The regional campaign kicked off with a Radio promotion on 97.3FM Brisbane. A winner of the destination prize was drawn this week with a very happy young woman excited to be receiving a prize that showcases the best of the southern region.

Lake Dunstan Trail

Construction of the fourth ‘great ride’ cycle trail in Central Otago is about to get underway – congratulations to the trust members and funders for reaching this exciting milestone. The 54km Lake Dunstan trail will begin near Pisa Moorings, follow the Lake Dunstan shore to Cromwell crossing the Bannockburn bridge, around the Bannockburn inlet and down the lake to the Dunstan Arm Rowing Club near the Clyde dam.  This exciting addition to the trail network in Central Otago will see Cromwell connected with the Otago Central Rail Trail and Roxburgh Gorge Trail and is the first stage of a planned cycle trail network that will ultimately see these trails connect to Queenstown and Wanaka trails.

Clutha Gold Trail

Congratulations also to the Clutha Gold Trail team who this week received confirmation they have secured all the funding they need to extend the trail from Lawrence to Waihola (via Milton).

Wine Tourism

We are watching with excitement developments happening in the wine tourism space, with Foley Wines Mt Difficulty about to begin construction of a new restaurant, Te Kano’s new Cellar Door in construction and the planned Wooing Tree development becoming ever closer. We look forward to these additions to our already superb wine offering.
