Curling was introduced by Scottish gold miners with the first reported game in the Maniototo,
Central Otago on 6 July 1878.
The long, cold winters made outdoor work difficult and curling provided a way to pass the time.
Rinks were constructed on natural ice to play this traditional game.
The long history of curling in New Zealand makes it one of the oldest winter sporting activities in the country.
Maniototo Curling International is an all weather indoor curling facility including lounge bar, conference venue,
viewing area, kitchen, changing rooms and amenities.
Open 7 days a week, all year round;
Rink hours are:
Summer (Nov - Apr) 9.00am-7.30pm
Winter (May - Oct) 10.00am - 5.00pm
Morning and afternoon teas available, catering for lunches and dinners by prior arrangement.
Have A Go games (1 hour) include tuition, stones, brooms and ice time.
Full Games (minimum 2 hours) include tuition, stones, brooms and ice time.
Up to 32 people can be playing at any one time.
Bookings recommended, group bookings are essential.

Please bring with you:
Rubber soled gym-shoes
Warm clothing
All ages, boys and girls, men and ladies, and even those with mobility difficulty are able to play.
No experience necessary!

The Pro Shop sells a range of curling equipment and clothing.
Take home one of our Maniototo Curling Jackets to remember your first curling experience! Or for the more experienced curler, purchase your own curling mitts, gloves or over shoes!
We also hire warm clothing for curlers to use while playing in our chilly indoor complex!

In the viewing gallery/ lounge bar, above the indoor curling rink, we can cater for up to 100 people.
We have a fully licensed bar (no BYO) and full in-house catering is available.
